10 SAMs in a historic building in central Antwerp

For Prins Albertlei 17, we are renovating a listed building in central Antwerp together with A-Star Group. We are integrating 10 SAM units across the ground floor and first floor of the rear section of the building.

The existing structure sets the rules. Because much of the building is listed, we work with our proprietary assembly method and avoid structural interventions. Our SAM combines kitchen, bathroom, services and fixed furniture into one unit, allowing us to optimise the layout with minimal impact on the existing structure. For this project, we developed six different configurations, tailored to the building's floor plan.

In a listed building like this, every intervention counts. That is why we opt for compact, smart assembly rather than unnecessary complexity in design and installation.

Technically, the project is built with a fully integrated design. We provide convectors and an electric boiler for each home. A central heat pump supplies heat to all 10 homes. Ventilation, sanitary facilities, and electricity are compactly concealed within the SAM modules. This creates a solution that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also quick to install and dismantle, and easy to maintain.

Completion is scheduled for summer 2026.
